He made furniture from the trees.
Mitchell framed houses in Colorado for more than 35 years. When the Waldo Canyon Fire and then the Black Forest Fire destroyed homes he had built, he started making furniture from the burned trees. That became the Waldo Canyon Collection, and it is why the wood here is local, fire-affected and tied to the places he knows.
